I was listening to the President Uchtdorf's talk and I thought, that sometimes we are forgetting to be grateful. This is so easy to say "thank you". But sometimes we focus more of things we are not satisfied with, so just simply don't see that now we need to say "thank you" instead of saying what we don't like something. We need "to choose to be grateful no matter what" as he said.
I remember when I was little girl, my mom was teaching me to say "thank you" to people that did something good for me. When I was growing and later joined the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints, I learned that I need to say "thank you" to God, even for things that seems not good at all for me. But later I realised that by some "bad things" (as we got use to think it is bad) we getting more lessons and knowledge. By some hard trials in our life we learn and gaining new qualities as Christ had.
So, how to have more gratitude for the tuff things in our life? It is never pleasant and we never asking God for it. But for some reason He letting this "bad things" happen to us.
If we will come back to the story of Nephi, in 1 Nephi 17:51 we can read: "And now, if the Lord has such great power, and has wrought so many miracles among the children of men, how is it that he cannot instruct me, that I should build a ship?". He got a hard assignment from the Lord to build a ship and didn't get any support from his family, and even worst, his brothers wanted to kill him again. But how to use this scripture in our life? I can replace the last part of it "that I should build a ship" and put there any trial I have in my life. Then just sit down and read it again with my personal problem in it.
Do you think God would not help you with your trial? He will! For sure! I know it!
Another great talk from Elder Holland has super important sentence at the end, he is talking about Jesus Christ: "He knows the way, because He is the way". God knows our ways, He knows us and He want us talk to Him, and if we will be grateful for everything we have now, He will give us even more in the future.
